Designated the 321st Strategic Missile Wing from 1964 to 1991. The 4th Strategic Aerospace Division was at Grand Forks from 1964 to 1971, so support units used the 804 designation. The 42nd Air Division was at Grand Forks from 1988 to 1991, so support units used the 842 designation. Designated the 321st Missile Wing from 1991 to 1994, and then the 321st Missile Group from 1994 to closing in 1998, under the one base-one wing concept, with the 319th Bomb Wing/Tanker Wing the host unit. The 321MG was the third Minuteman unit to close due to the strategic arms reduction treaties.
